When the series was given a pilot order several roles were cast with, Mark Duplass playing Pete Eckhart, Stephen Rannazzisi playing Kevin MacArthur, Nick Kroll playing Rodney Ruxin, Paul Scheer playing Andre Nowzik, Jon Lajoie playing Taco MacArthur and Katie Aselton playing Jenny MacArthur. The League was given a series order on August 20, 2009 with six episodes. A second 13 episode season of The League premiered on September 16, 2010 on FX. On January 15, 2011, it was announced that the series had been picked up for a third season, which premiered on October 6, 2011.

Series Summary:
Fantasy Football is at the core of The League, a comedy that explores how the online sports obsession affects marriages, friendships, families, and completely shuts down Sundays. The comedy will be partially improvised, with the team from "Curb Your Enthusiasm" behind it. Fantasy football is supposed to provide an outlet for good-natured competition and camaraderie between friends and colleagues, but that’s not always the case. In FX’s comedy series, The League, deception, one-upmanship and a win-at-all costs mentality rule the day on the virtual gridiron and then extend into personal relationships, marriages and the workplace.


Episode Summary:
Chuck (Will Forte), a League player from out of town, visits and is not at all like what the guys remember him to be. Meanwhile, Kevin and Jenny get in over their heads with a drug dealer; and Taco goes on a radical diet.
