Based on 2007′s The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick, Hugo is about a boy who takes to living in the walls of a Paris train station after his father dies in an accident. He has with him a mechanical man his father invented. When he meets a girl with a special key, their adventure begins.

From the look of the movie’s trailer, which debuted before Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, this is not your father’s Martin Scorsese. Twelve-year-old Hugo lives in the walls of a busy Paris train station, where his survival depends on secrets and anonymity. But when his world suddenly interlocks with an eccentric girl and the owner of a small toy booth in the train station, Hugo’s undercover life, and his most precious secret, are put in jeopardy.

The film is set in 1930′s Paris, and the boy, who is clever and capable of fixing almost anything mechanical, finds and repairs a mechanical man, who, as far as I can tell, becomes something of a surrogate father to him.
